At the recent INTV Conference taking place in Jerusalem, FOX TV group chair Gary Newman has revealed that the network have discussed the possibility of bringing back Joss Whedon’s seminal TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Newman said “I think if you look in our library, Buffy is probably the most ripe show we have for bringing back”, going on to add “It’s something we talk about frequently, and Joss Whedon is really one of the greatest creators we ever worked with. When Joss decides it’s time, we’ll do it. And until Joss decides it’s time, it won’t happen.”
If a Buffy revival did happen, it would follow in the footsteps of FOX’s recent TV resurrections; The X-Files and Prison Break, with Newman acknowledging that “People are aware of the show, you don’t’ have to build awareness. If the show’s beloved, you get a great deal of intent to view right from the get go.”
Buffy continued after the series finale in 2003 through a series of Dark Horse Comics, so would you like any potential revival to follow that narrative, pick up where the Chosen episode ended season 7, or start all over again with a completely new set of Sunnydale inhabitants?
