After shattering then-records with a $132 million opening back in February 2016 on its way to becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, it looks like 20th Century Fox can expect another very strong debut when Deadpool 2 opens in North American theaters next month.
According to Deadline, the David Leitch-directed superhero sequel is looking at a very strong domestic opening weekend of $150 million plus, which would set a new record for 20th Century Fox. It would also give it the third biggest opening weekend of the year so far behind Marvel Studios’ Black Panther ($202 mililon) and Avengers: Infinity War, which is expected to pull in anywhere from $200 million to $250 million this weekend.
