While Marvel Studios has assembled the vast majority of its Cinematic Universe heroes for Avengers: Infinity War, their small screen counterparts weren’t so lucky with the likes of The Defenders and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. sitting out the big battle against Thanos.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Infinity War co-writer Christopher Markus has suggested that the inclusion of Daredevil and company was simply “a bridge too far”:
“It’s hard to factor them in because that is what, five more heroes and you’re trying to blend them in and trying to get them, you know, we’ve taken some people off to the end of the universe but again, it’s a bridge too far, I think on a storytelling level.”
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige also addressed the possibility of a crossover between Marvel’s big and small screen properties, and while he didn’t dismiss the idea out of hand, it’s certainly not sounding promising for fans of the TV shows:
“I don’t know. It really remains to be seen. So much of what they’re doing has been set. We’ve already shot Avengers 4. So much of what we’re doing is set, but I just, I never say never, but I’m not sure when that would be.”
