USA Network has announced that it has ordered a pilot for a TV spinoff from the Jason Bourne movie franchise entitled Treadstone, which hails from Heroes creator Tim Kring.
According to Deadline, Treadstone “explores the origin story and present-day actions of a CIA black ops program known as Treadstone — a covert operation that uses behavior modification protocol to turn its agents into nearly unstoppable superhuman assassins. The series follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously ‘awakened’ to resume their deadly missions.”
Based on Robert Ludlum’s novels, the Bourne franchise stars Matt Damon as a former Treadstone agent suffering from memory loss, who attempts to uncover the truth about his past. The series began in 2002 with The Bourne Identity, and spawned four Damon-led sequels in 2004, 2007 and 2016, as well as the 2012 spinoff sequel The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner.
In addition to Treadstone, USA Network has also ordered pilots for the cop drama Erase, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail’s Briarpatch, and Peter Berg’s Dare Me.
