The H Collective has teamed up with Vin Diesel’s One Race Films to acquire the rights to the xXx franchise from Revolution Studios, and are looking to kick off production on a fourth instalment in the high octane action series this December.
xXx 4 will see Diesel returning as Xander Cage and reuniting with director D.J. Caruso, who helmed last year’s third outing xXx: Return of Xander Cage. As yet, there’s no word on any other returning cast members from previous instalments.
The three xXx movies have grossed over $650 million worldwide, with Return of Xander Cage setting a global franchise high of $346.1 million. It performed particularly well in China, earning $164 million (compared to a domestic haul of $45 million), which no doubt made it a very appealing property to the Chinese-backed H Collective.
Before he reprises the role of Xander Cage, Diesel is set to portray Ray Garrison in the Valiant comic book adaptation Bloodshot, which is slated to start production in July.
