Streaming service Amazon is currently hard at work in development on its billion dollar adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, which – as we heard back in November – is set to take place prior to the War of the Ring, featuring “previously unexplored stories” from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth works.
Well, now comes word from fan website TheOneRing.net suggesting that the show (or at least the first of the planned five seasons) will centre on a young Aragorn, played by Viggo Mortensen in the Peter Jackson movies.

The site goes on to note that focusing on a young Aragorn would allow the series to feature a number of characters familiar to audiences such as Gandalf, Elrond, Arwen and Gollum, whilst providing the opportunity to introduce the likes of Arathorn and Gilraen, Aragorn’s parents, along with Elrond’s twin sons Elladan and Elrohir.
