We’re just a few days away from the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Donald Glover has been chatting to Comic Book about taking on the iconic role of Lando Calrissian, revealing the reaction of the original smooth-talking scoundrel, Billy Dee Williams, to his portrayal of the character.
“He texted me,” said Glover. “He said ‘You did a good job.’ That was all I wanted, all I needed. It definitely made me feel like I didn’t let him down. He was such an iconic figure in the first one, in The Empire Strikes Back, that I definitely didn’t want to let him down.”
Although the Lando torch has been passed, fans will be hoping that we get to see Billy Dee Williams making his own return to the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: Episode IX, having sat out both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi (he did however reprise the role for an appearance in the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels).
