Having penned every instalment since 2005’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Chris Morgan is stepping aside for the ninth instalment of the blockbuster action series.
THR is reporting that the as-yet-untitled Fast & Furious 9 will be written by Daniel Casey (Kin), who apparently secured the job after impressing with his upcoming superhero script The Heavy, which J.J. Abrams is producing for Paramount Pictures.
Morgan is not leaving the franchise completely however, as he will be focussing his attention on writing and producing next year’s Hobbs and Shaw spinoff, featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
