Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is set to produce and possibly star in the drama My Dearest Fidel, a movie based upon Peter Kornbluh’s Politico article My Dearest Fidel: An ABC Journalist’s Secret Liason With Fidel Castro.
Variety reports that the article details how how ABC journalist Lisa Howard engaged in “intimate diplomacy” with Castro and was a key asset in the establishment of a top-secret channel between Washington and Havana to discuss reconciliation after the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
“When I first read Peter’s article, I was entranced by his thrilling account of a complicated, fascinating woman in the midst of a high-stakes, real-life drama,” said Gadot. “I knew immediately that I had to be involved creatively with telling Lisa Howard’s story, and am thrilled to be producing this film with Sue.”
The feature is being written by Chris Brancato (Narcos), and Gadot will produce alongside Sue Kroll and Jaron Varsano. Meanwhile, Gadot will first reunite with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins this summer to shoot the sequel to the DC blockbuster.
