We’ve already had three superhero movies this year in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool, and we’ve got another to look forward to next month as the Parr family return for Incredibles 2, Disney-Pixar’s sequel to the beloved 2004 animated movie.
Last month it was reported that the Brad Bird-directed sequel was tracking a healthy $110 million domestic opening at the box office, but it seems those figures were on the low side as THR is suggesting that tracking now points to a whopping $140 million weekend.
Should that prove accurate, Incredibles 2 would set a new record for the biggest domestic opening ever for an animated movie – a title currently held by another long-awaited Pixar sequel, Finding Dory, which debuted to $135 million in 2016.

In “Incredibles 2,” Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
Incredibles 2 is set for release on June 15th 2018 in the U.S. and July 13th 2018 in the UK.
