Blizzard has released a brand new update for Overwatch and along with the tweaking of several heroes comes the new escort map Rialto. Those of you who took part in last month’s PvE event, Retribution, will probably recognise the map from the night time version seen in the event. You can visit the new map in the trailer below…
Rialto in Venice was once home to a Talon agent and was a turning point for Overwatch and Talon. Now the Italian government has preserved the historic city and made it a picturesque location for tourists to enjoy local cuisine and all the other tourist-y type things like riding in a gondola eating a Cornetto. This new Escort map, unlike its appearance in Retribution, is set during the day which makes for a beautiful location to battle through.
“Wall Ride has been significantly overhauled to allow it to function more smoothly across more areas of every map. Lúcio players should instantly notice a huge improvement in where and how Wall Ride can be used. In addition, Sonic Amplifier’s Soundwave ability was unnecessarily controlled by both a cooldown and an ammo cost, so we’re removing the ammo cost.”
Other changes in this latest update include changes to several heroes, most notably Hanzo and Lucio. Changes to Lucio include Soundwave now using zero ammo and can be used while reloading and the ability to ride around corners when performing Wall Ride. Changes to Hanzo include an increase in projectile speed, a cooldown reduction of his Sonic Arrow and the introduction of the lunge and Storm Arrows abilities.
“The goal of these Hanzo changes is to allow him to have new options and maintain his high damage output, while removing the frustration of fighting against the old Scatter Arrow. Hanzo is now much more mobile with his new Lunge ability, and with the combination of the bow projectile speed increase and the new Storm Arrows ability he can now deal his high damage more consistently than ever before.”
