Actress Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) has become the latest addition to the cast of Jojo Rabbit, the new film from Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
The World War II satire follows a ten-year-old German boy who is struggling to understand his place in the fascist Nazi regime. Resorting to an imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (played by Waititi), for advice and guidance, the boy discovers that his mother is hiding a young Jewish girl and tries to find ways to get rid of her, only to begin to see her as human.
Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Infinity War) is set to portray the boy’s mother, with Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) as a Nazi captain of a Hitler Youth camp, and Wilson as an instructor.
Filming on Jojo Rabbit is slated to get underway late spring/early summer, with Waititi also producing alongside Carthew Neal and Chelsea Winstanley for Fox Searchlight.
