A little over a year ago it was announced that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost had formed their own production company Stolen Banner, and would be teaming up to produce and star in its very first project, the horror-comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez from director Crispian Mills (A Fantastic Fear of Everything).
During an interview with Digital Trends (via Bloody Disgusting), Pegg has now shared a few more details on the project, revealing that the film will a subterranean monster which is unleashed on a British boarding school.
“It’s going to be really fun,” said Pegg. “It’s a sort of a horror comedy. It felt like the right thing for Nick and I to have as our first collaboration with Stolen Picture. It’s about a private school in the U.K. which sells off parts of its land to a fracking company, and the fracking company then unleashes a subterranean monster that terrorizes the school. It’s a big metaphor for the U.K. privatizing things, and it’s mixed up with some ridiculous, sloppy horror. So it’s right up our street.”
The synopsis for Slaughterhouse Rulez reads:
“The film is set in an illustrious British boarding school that becomes a bloody battleground when a mysterious sinkhole appears at a nearby fracking site unleashing unspeakable horror. Soon a new pecking order will be established as pupils, teachers and the school matron become locked in a bloody battle for survival.”
Slaughterhouse Rulez is slated for release this year, and features a cast that also includes Asa Butterfield, Hermione Corfield, Michael Sheen and Finn Cole.
