Atari VCS Tribute Edition announced as Collector’s Edition sells out

June 20, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With the Atari VCS Collector’s Edition selling out on IndieGogo, Atari has responded to the incredible demand for the retro-inspired version of the new console by announcing the Atari VCS Tribute Edition.

Those who missed out on the Collector’s Edition have another chance to pre-purchase the Atari VCS Tribute Edition, featuring the same iconic real-wood front panel. The Atari VCS Tribute Edition is cosmetically similar to the sold out Collector’s Edition but will not be part of the 6,000 “First-Run” units of the individually numbered and certified Collector’s Editions.

Designed as a completely modern connected device and not a “retro-box” or emulator, the Atari VCS features a unique open Linux platform capable of playing popular new releases and streaming entertainment. Also included in the Atari Vault, which contains over 100 all-time classic games including the likes of Asteroids, Centipede, Breakout, Missile Command, Gravitar and Yars’ Revenge.

The Atari VCS is now available for pre-sale exclusively through Indiegogo starting at $219 USD. In addition to the new Tribute Edition, the sleek and stealthy Onyx Edition is also available, as well as a reimagined “Classic Joystick” and a “Modern Controller” for new games. Visit the IndieGogo page here for more details or to pre-order.
