Last month it was reported that Peter Jackson was deciding between a DC Extended Universe movie and Amazon’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings series as his next big project, however it seems that rumour was wide of the mark.
Speaking to French outlet Allocine (via IndieWide), Jackson has rubbished the reports, stating that he has no involvement with The Lord of the Rings, and no interest in tackling any superhero projects.
“I’m not involved at all in the Lord of the Rings series,” said Jackson. “I understand how my name could come up, but there is nothing happening with me on this project.”
As for the DC link, Jackson added: “That’s not true. I had no discussions about that. I’m not a fan of comics, I’ve never read any, so I’m not particularly interested in adapting one for cinema. That’s not true at all. I’m not involved in any DC film or Lord of The Rings series but I’m okay with it, I have plenty other projects that keep me busy.”
Next up from Jackson is director Christian Rivers’ Mortal Engines, which he wrote with regular collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens and is also producing [watch the latest trailer here]. He is yet to announce is next directorial effort, although Steven Spielberg has recently suggested that Jackson may finally turn his attention to the long-planned sequel to 2011’s The Adventures of Tintin.
