Last month it was announced that Disney has decided to push back the release of Indiana Jones 5, having brought in Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars Story) to further work on the script for the next collaboration between director Steven Spielberg and star Harrison Ford.
The movie was originally slated to arrive on July 10th 2020, and now comes word that Disney has set a new release date of July 9th 2021 (a year and four days shy of Ford’s 80th birthday). Meanwhile, the studio has also set a May 29th 2020 release date for its fairy tale sequel Maleficent II, which sees Angelina Jolie returning as the Mistress of All Evil.
As part of the announcement, Disney has also shuffled a number of other dates; Mary Poppins Returns has moved up from December 25th 2018 to December 19th, while the Dwayne Johnson-headlined Jungle Cruise will open on October 11th 2019, while an as-yet-untitled Marvel Studios movie has moved from July 30th 2021 to February 12th 2021. Black Panther 2, perhaps?
