Deadline is reporting that Kate Winslet, Diane Keaton and Mia Wasikowska have signed on to star in Blackbird, an English language remake of the 2014 Danish feature Silent Heart.
The film is being directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill, My Cousin Rachel) and will star Keaton as a terminally ill mother who brings her family – including her two daughters played by Winslet and Wasikowska – together for a final weekend before she commits suicide.
Filming on Blackbird is set to get underway in August in London, with Michell directing from a script by Silent Heart screenwriter Christian Torpe.
Winslet is currently shooting James Cameron’s Avatar sequels, while Keaton is in production on the comedy film Poms and Wasikowska will next appear in the horror-thriller Piercing.
