Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Michael Douglas has given his thoughts on what has made the Marvel Cinematic Universe so successful.
Legendary actor Michael Douglas will be reprising his role as Hank Pym in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp, performing in support of the film’s two leads Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.
The film is likely to find its fair share of success at the box office, adding to an already very successful year for Marvel Studios. But how has Marvel found such a winning formula and been able to impress fans and critics on a consistent basis? Well, Douglas has an idea and he explained his thoughts on the subject to EW:
“Each picture, I think they decide upon their big action set pieces, which they set up early on, so they get a lot of time for prep, and then they work their way in. And then, when you get to more character scenes, depending upon the actors, they allow a lot of leeway. So, Michael Peña, for one, comes up with all this wonderful wiggy, wiggy stuff. Paul Rudd’s another one that does that. And I think they encourage that, and it gives you kind of the freshness that I think separates the Marvel pictures from the rest of these superhero films.”
Would you agree with Douglas’ analysis? The actors certainly seem to have a lot of freedom to express themselves and MCU set pieces are nearly always on point. What else would you attribute it to?
