Rumour: Jon Favreau’s Star Wars series to be set on Mandalore, $100 million budget for 10 episodes

August 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

After appearing as Rio Durant in Solo: A Star Wars Story, actor and director Jon Favreau will soon be returning to the galaxy far, far away to produce a live-action Star Wars TV show for Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

We’ve already heard that the series will take place between Episodes VI and VII, and now the ever-reliable Making Star Wars has shared a rumour about the plot which claims that it will take place around three years after Return of the Jedi on the planet of Mandalore.

According to the report, “it sounds like when the Empire falls, Mandalore falls into a state of turmoil and the series is about restoring Mandalore to its former self and how Mandalore sways will have huge galactic ramifications.”

Meanwhile, in one other tidbit of information, The New York Times is reporting that the TV series “is expected to cost roughly $100 million for 10 episodes.” That budget puts it in the same ballpark as HBO’s Game of Thrones (not including the upcoming final season, which is reportedly around $15 million per episode).

Are you looking forward to Jon Favreau’s Star Wars series? Intrigued by the rumoured Mandalore storyline? Let us know in the comments below…
