If rumours are to be believed, the newly-launched streaming service DC Universe may soon be adding another live-action series to its catalogue, with rumours circulating that a Batgirl TV series is in the works.
According to an unconfirmed report from FandomWire, DC Universe has placed a thirteen episode order for a Batgirl series, which is slated to begin production in February ahead of a release in 2020. As yet, there’s no word on any talent attached, either in front of or behind the camera.
Warner Bros. has been planning to introduce the character Batgirl into the DC Extended Universe for some time now; a solo movie is in development, which previously had Joss Whedon attached to write and direct, and it was also thought that the character would appear in the Margot Robbie-headlined Birds of Prey, although it now seems that isn’t the case after all.

Should the rumour prove true, then Batgirl will join a number of live-action series produced exclusively for DC Universe, including Titans, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing and Stargirl.
