20th Century Fox is set to reteam with its Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds on a new film called Free Guy, which has Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) attached to direct.
Scripted by Matt Lieberman (Christmas Chronicles, The Addams Family), Free Guy will see Reynolds portraying a bank teller stuck in a routine, who discovers that he’s actually a background character in a brutal, open-world action-adventure video game and is actually the only one capable of saving his world.
This isn’t the only video game character role on the horizon for Reynolds, as he’s also portraying Pikachu in the upcoming live-action/CG-hybrid Pokemon: Detective Pikachu. He’s currently shooting the action thriller 6 Underground for Michael Bay and Netflix, and just this week it was announced that Fox has set an untitled Deadpool Movie for this December – thought to be a recut, PG-13 version of this year’s Deadpool 2.
Free Guy is being produced by Levy’s 21 Laps, as well as Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions.
