Another pilot will be suiting up for Top Gun: Maverick. Deadline has reported The Good Place’s Manny Jacinto has joined the film alongside Miles Teller (Whiplash) and the returning Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer. Jacinto is set to play a pilot named Fritz.
The anticipated sequel will see Teller as Goose’s grown-up son who follows in his father’s footsteps by training to become a pilot at Top Gun with Maverick as his teacher. Not many other details are known, but it was recently pushed back from a 2019 release to 2020.
As well as starring in The Good Place, which just started its third season, Jacinto will be seen next in Bad Times at the El Royale alongside Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Infinity War) on October 12th.
Top Gun: Maverick is being directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion) and sees the returning Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer joined in the cast by Miles Teller (Whiplash), Jennifer Connolly (American Pastoral), Glen Powell (Hidden Figures), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Ed Harris (Westworld), Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale), Charles Parnell (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Bashir Salahuddin (Glow), Monica Barbaro (The Good Cop), Danny Ramirez (The Gifted) and Jay Ellis (Insecure).
