Last month, Damon Wayans dropped the unexpected announcement that he was quitting Fox’s hit TV series Lethal Weapon at the conclusion of the show’s third season, citing the toll that it is taking on his health and his family life.
The news came as a surprise to Fox, who hadn’t been notified of Wayans’ decision prior to his comments to the media, but now comes word that the actor has agreed to appear in a further two episodes, taking the season three total up to fifteen.
According to Deadline, Fox has agreed to adjust the shooting schedule and put steps in place to help ensure the production doesn’t impact his health. Furthermore, in addition to the two additional episodes, it’s now said that Wayans has not entirely shut the door on a fourth season, should the network show interesting in renewing the series.
Lethal Weapon has been a ratings hit for Fox, but has had plenty of behind-the-scenes drama, with Wayans’ original co-star Clayne Crawford fired earlier this year over allegations of bad behaviour on set and Seann William Scott joining the show as his replacement.
