As it gears up to go into production, Legendary Pictures’ monster showdown Godzilla vs. Kong has made a new addition to its cast, with Variety reporting that Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) has signed on for a “significant role” in the movie.
Adam Wingard (The Guest, Blair Witch) is directing Godzilla vs. Kong, the fourth instalment in Legendary’s MonsterVerse after Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island and the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Featuring alongside Henry in the cast are Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2) and Ziyi Zhang (The Cloverfield Paradox), while The Walking Dead and Black Panther’s Danai Gurira is also rumoured.
Henry was recently nominated for an Emmy for FX’s Atlanta season two, while his upcoming feature film credits include Widows, If Beale Street Could Talk and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, while he’s also attached to Fox’s Woman in the Window and the Child’s Play reboot.
Godzilla vs. Kong is set for release on May 22nd 2020, while Godzilla: King of the Monsters will open on May 31st 2019.
