Tai Freligh interviews Ted Mathot and Marc Sondheimer on Auntie Edna short…
Flickering Myth’s Tai Freligh recently attended a press event at Pixar Studios and had the chance to interview story supervisor Ted Mathot and producer Marc Sondheimer on the Auntie Edna short included with the very popular Incredibles 2 film.
He asked Ted and Marc about when the idea for the short came about, Marc’s thoughts on Bao and whether or not these Pixar shorts are a callback to pre-show cartoons, Ted’s first time directing (and being mentored by Brad Bird along the way) and going from his first job on The Ren and Stimpy Show to Pixar.
We thank story supervisor Ted Mathot and producer Marc Sondheimer for taking the time to speak with us.
Incredibles 2 was released on October 23rd via digital, and is now available on DVD, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and 4K UHD as of November 6th in the US and November 12th in the UK.
In Incredibles 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
