If you cast your mind back to the start of October, you may recall a rumour claiming that Game of Thrones and Narcos star Pedro Pascal was wanted for the lead in Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian, and now comes word from Variety that Pascal is indeed in talks to star in the live-action Star Wars series.
Variety reports that Pascal, who recently shot the DC sequel Wonder Woman 1984, was one of several actors under consideration for the role, but he has since been offered the role and negotiations are underway.
The Mandalorian has been created by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book) and is being produced for Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+. The official logline reads:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
