Having recently signed on to lead Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, The Fault in Our Stars and Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort has now been cast in The Great High School Impostpr, a film adaptation of a GQ Magazine article which is set up at Participant Media.
Scripted by Mike Makowsky (Bad Education, I Think We’re Alone Now), the film will tell the true story of Artur Samarin, who fled the Ukraine aged 18 and arrived in America, where he befriended a childless couple who adopted him and helped to forge documents which shaved five years off his age. Enrolling in his local high school, he became a straight-A student and a pillar of the community, until his dream fell apart when he was turned in to the authorities by his adoptive parents who felt he wasn’t behaving enough like a domestic servant.
Elgort was last seen in the sci-fi drama Duplicate and next appears in the big screen adaptation of Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch, which is set for release in October 2019 and sees him starring alongside Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, Aneurin Barnard and Ashleigh Cummings.
