As Aquaman continues its worldwide rollout, actor Jason Momoa has been speaking to The Huffington Post about the current state of the DC Extended Universe, and more specifically the rumours that we’ve likely seen the last of both Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman.
“”If they’re both out, then listen: It’s just the place they’re at in their careers. I mean, how many has Henry done? He’s done three? Yeah, I mean, like, you want to move on. I think if I did… sh*t, I have done three… I mean, Henry wants to just expand on something. Ben is an amazing director that is of age, and probably he’s done enough. I don’t know how to speak on behalf of them, but I had the time of my life [on Justice League].
It was widely reported back in September that Henry Cavill would be exiting the role of the Man of Steel as warner Bros. and DC Films shifted its attention away from Superman to other projects such as the planned Supergirl movie, although there was some speculation that this could have been a negotiating tactic on Cavill’s behalf, or an attempt by Warner Bros. to gauge interest in a Man of Steel sequel.
As for Affleck, there’s been a never-ending stream of rumours about his status as The Dark Knight over the past year or so, although it is widely thought that he’s unlikely to don the cape and cowl for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, if and when the solo movie ever moves forward.
