Back in May it was announced that fan favourite G.I. Joe ninja Snake Eyes is set to receive his very own solo movie, and now comes word that the project has found a director.
THR is reporting that Robert Schwentke (Divergent, RED, R.I.P.D.) has signed on to direct the Snake Eyes movie, which has been scripted by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast).
While plot details are being kept under wraps, the movie is expected to serve as an origin story for the silent commando, presumably incorporating his days in the Arashikage Clan and his friendship and subsequent falling out with Storm Shadow.
As yet, there’s no word on whether Ray Park will be reprising his role as Snake Eyes, having portrayed the character in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Paramount has a third movie, G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant, slated for release on March 27th 2020, while Snake Eyes is also reportedly being lined up for release in 2020.
