While Edgar Wright is currently working on a documentary on the pop-rock cult band Sparks, he’s already started planning his next feature film. Speaking with Empire, Wright revealed his next project will be an untitled psychological thriller set in London with a female lead.
“I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years,” Wright said. “With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”
He went on to say the film will be influenced by Nicholas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion and that he has co-written the script with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful). The film will begin production this summer.
He also gave an update to Baby Driver 2, confirming a first draft of the film’s script has been completed. He said the sequel will “takes the story further” and will introduce new characters as well as a body count as high as the original film. There’s no word as yet when it will enter production, but will most likely be Wright’s next project after his psychological thriller.
