WWE Superstar-turned-actor John Cena has now added a new project to his upcoming slate, signing on to star in an as-yet-untitled action comedy from director Jason Bateman and his Game Night screenwriter Mark Perez.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will revolve around a family who get stuck in an old abandoned movie studio, where the sets come to life and the family members find themselves stuck in various movies. In addition to directing, Bateman will also appear alongside Cena in the cast of the movie.
Cena was most recently seen in the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, and is gearing up to star in the family comedy Playing With Fire, where he’ll star alongside Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool), Judy Greer (Halloween), Keegan-Michael Key (The Predator) and John Leguizamo (John Wick: Chapter 2).
Next up Cena will be seen opposite martial arts icon Jackie Chan in the action thriller Project X-traction, which is expected to open later this year, and also has The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle and The Janson Directive on the horizon.
