After granting a pilot order to its latest Arrowverse project Batwoman earlier this month, The CW has now started to fill out the supporting cast to star alongside Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane in the potential DC superhero series.
As revealed by Deadline, the pilot has cast Meagan Tandy (Teen Wolf) as love interest Sophie Moore, Nicole Kang (You) as Kate’s step sister Mary Hamilton and Camrus Johnson (Luke Cage) as Luke Fox, a.k.a. Batwing.
Tandy’s Sophie is described as “a high-level private security agent and one of Gotham’s staunchest protectors. Despite her bite and regimented outlook, Sophie has a soft side, illuminated by Kate Kane’s return.”
The character breakdown for Kang’s Mary reads: “Excitable, talkative, and an influencer-in-the-making, what Mary lacks in a filter she makes up for with her compassion for Gotham’s underserved communities, proving she has more in common with Kate than she thinks.”
And finally, Johnson’s Luke – the son of Lucius Fox – is said to “consider himself the guardian of all things Batman — specifically his symbol — he also recognizes the city’s need for a new hero.”
The Batwoman pilot has been written by Caroline Dries, with David Nutter (Arrow, The Flash, Game of Thrones) set to take on directing duties.
