It’s certainly been a busy day for DC movie news, what with Warner Bros. setting 2021 release dates for Matt Reeves’ The Batman and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, as well as confirming that Ben Affleck is out as The Dark Knight, and Gunn will also be overhauling the Task Force X roster with new actors and characters.
Tucked away alongside those two huge announcements is news on another DC Films project, the animated DC Super Pets movie, which has now been dated and will arrive in theaters on May 21st 2021.
DC Super Pets is being directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, with Patty Hicks producing, and revolves around the animal sidekicks of the DC Universe.
DC’s team of Super Pets first appeared together in Adventure Comics #293 in 1962, and over the years the roster has included characters such as Krypto the Super-Dog, Ace the Bat-Hound, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, Comet the Super-Horse, Aquaman’s seahorse Storm, Damian Wayne’s dog Titus, and Harley Quinn’s hyenas Bud and Lou.
DC Super Pets also aired as a series of animated shorts on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation between 2013 and 2014.
At this point, specific details on DC Super Pets are scarce, but let us know in the comments below if you’re looking forward to the film and which characters you’re hoping to see as part of the movie…
