Last month it was confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is making the jump from the MCU to the DCEU as he “relaunches” Task Force X with The Suicide Squad – described as a “whole new take” on the team of villains and featuring “a mostly all-new cast of characters and actors.”
That’s as much as we know at present, but after posting a report earlier this week claiming that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn would be one of the casualties of the revamp, Forbes writer Mark Hughes is now reporting that his information was wrong, and that Robbie will indeed be part of the new movie.
“I have learned from sources close to production that in fact, the information about Harley Quinn being absent from the new Suicide Squad movie is no longer up to date,” said Hughes. “She is indeed expected to appear in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which is expected to begin production later this year.”
In his original report, Hughes also claimed that the recent rumours suggesting that Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will kick off a Harley-led trilogy are false, and that she’d not be appearing in Birds of Prey, or the planned Batgirl solo movie. Of course, with his info on The Suicide Squad being inaccurate, one would have to assume the rest of this info could also be wide of the mark.
