It looks like the comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks isn’t the only animated Trek project on the horizon, as The Wrap is reporting that Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios are set to team up for a brand new series from Kevin and Dan Hageman (LEGO Ninjago, Trollhunters).
Details on the project are scarce, but it is said that the new show will target towards younger viewers, and is intended as a major tentpole series for Nickelodeon. CBS’ Star Trek supremo Alex Kurtzman will oversee the series.
While the Star Trek movie franchise appears to have hit a stumbling block following the collapse of the planned Star Trek 4, CBS is boldly going forward with a number of small screen projects; in addition to the ongoing Star Trek: Discovery, the network has Star Trek: Picard set to arrive later this year and in addition to the aforementioned Lower Decks, there’s also a Discovery spinoff centred around Michelle Yeoh’s Philippa Georgiou.
