Peter Weller reprises RoboCop role for KFC commercials

February 23, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although he seemingly has little interest in revisiting the role for Neill Blomkamp’s planned RoboCop Returns sequel, it seems that KFC has managed to convince Peter Weller to reprise his role as Alex Murphy for a series of ‘Colonel RoboCop’ commercials.

The adverts made their debut this week, and see RoboCop assuming the mantle of KFC’s Colonel to plug their fried chicken and protect the secrets of the Colonel’s Original Recipe. As confirmed by SlashFilm, Weller returns to voice the character, although his reps had “no comment” when asked if he spent any time on set and inside of the suit.

It’s been rumoured (although not confirmed) that Weller turned down the opportunity to link up with Neill Blomkamp for RoboCop Returns, which is based on an old unused script from Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner that was originally intended to serve as the sequel to Paul Verhoeven’s first movie. However, based on the above commercials, let’s hope they manage to get him on board for the voice, at least.
