Rachel Skarsten cast as villain in The CW’s Batwoman pilot

February 8, 2019 by Gary Collinson

The CW’s upcoming Arrowverse pilot Batwoman has found its villain, with Deadline reporting that Rachel Skarsten (Lost Girl) has signed on to play Alice, the leader of the Lewis Carroll-inspired Wonderland Gang.

Alice is described as “Swinging unpredictably between maniacal and charming [and] has made it her mission to undermine Gotham’s sense of security.” This marks the second DC role for Skarsten, who portrayed the character of Dinah Lance / Black Canary in 2002’s shortlived Birds of Prey TV series.

Spinning out of the recent Arrowverse ‘Elseworlds’ crossover, Batwoman sees Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black) portraying the title character Kate Kane, who is “armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.”

Skarsten joins the recently announced Meagan Tandy (Teen Wolf) as love interest Sophie Moore, Nicole Kang (You) as Kate’s step sister Mary Hamilton and Camrus Johnson (Luke Cage) as Luke Fox, a.k.a. Batwing, in the pilot, which has been written by Caroline Dries, with David Nutter (Arrow, The Flash, Game of Thrones) set to take on directing duties.
