The CW has announced that Oliver Queen will soon be hanging up his bow, as the DC superhero series Arrow is set to come to an end with its recently announced eighth season, which will featured a shortened ten-episode run.
Coinciding with the announcement, actor Stephen Amell took to Twitter to state: “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life…but you can’t be a vigilante forever. Arrow will return for a final run of 10 episodes this Fall. There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.”

Arrow premiered back in 2012, and has served as the launching point of an entire shared universe – the Arrowverse – which includes fellow CW shows The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. The network has the Batwoman spinoff pilot in the works for this year, and also airs the standalone series Black Lightning.
