Avengers: Endgame’s tone is very different to Infinity War, says director Joe Russo

March 28, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Joe Russo, the co-director of Avengers: Endgame, has revealed that the film’s tone is very different than Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War was one of history’s biggest cinematic events, delighting fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe around the world. However, don’t expect the follow-up, Avengers: Endgame, to be a similar experience.

This is according to co-director of each film Joe Russo. Speaking in a recent interview with BoxOfficePro, Russo revealed that the two movies are tonally distinct from one another:

“That’s a tricky one to answer without giving anything away, but I will say that the movie is definitely unique in tone. It has its own spirit that’s different than Infinity War, which is why I was keen for us to separate the movies. Of course, we’re handing off narratives and it’s been serialized over 22 movies. But, it’s different tonally than Infinity War and it is told from a different point of view. It was important for us in our minds as film directors to separate those two because we do not want to make the same movie twice, and ways that you can differentiate films are through tone and point of view.”

What do you make of these remarks by Joe Russo? Are you happy Endgame will have a different tone to Infinity War? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
