He’s played Luke Skywalker. He’s voiced The Joker. Now Mark Hamill is set to play another iconic role, this time from the horror genre. At the Wondercon panel for the Child’s Play remake, it was revealed through a video from Mark Hamill himself that he has joined the film as the voice of Chucky, the evil Buddi doll that comes to life for some murderous and sinister actions.
The new Child’s Play has been described as a contemporary reimagining where the Buddi doll is an ‘Artificial Intelligence human companion’ manufactured by the Kaslan Corp, the world’s leading developer of interactive tech products for home and lifestyle. When Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother, gifts one of the state-of-the-art toys to her son, Andy (Gabriel Bateman), playtime takes a terrifying turn.
The original Child’s Play was released in 1988 and has spawned several sequels. Chucky has earned a cult status of his own and if often ranked among some of the greatest and most memorable horror monsters/killers like Michael Myers, Jason and Freddy Kreuger.

Hamill is currently starring in the second season of History’s drama Knightfall and will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker later this year in Star Wars: Episode IX, the ‘concluding chapter of the Skywalker Saga’ from Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams.
Child’s Play sees Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) directing a cast that includes Aubrey Plaza (Ingrid Goes West), Brian Tyree Henry (Widows), Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out), Beatrice Kitsos (The Exorcist), Ty Consiglio (Wonder) and Carlease Burke (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle).
