Although James Gunn plans to revamp the roster of Task Force X for his upcoming DC sequel/reboot The Suicide Squad – with both Will Smith (Deadshot) and Jared Leto (The Joker) set to sit things out – it seems may well be some familiar faces when the movie rolls around in 2021.
Last month it was reported that Margot Robbie will be back as Harley Quinn, and now another rumour from We Got This Covered is suggesting that Viola Davis will be reprising her role as Amanda Waller, the Director of ARGUS and commanding officer of Task Force X.
Now, this report is unconfirmed, but it would of course make complete sense that Amanda Waller returns, even if the line-up for Task Force X itself is changed.
While details on The Suicide Squad are scarce, it has been said that Gunn will be taking “the franchise in a new direction with a mostly all-new cast of characters and actors” and that the tone will be “very much rooted in Gunn’s vibe, as seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.”
The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6th 2021.
