The CW has filled out the main cast of its Lost Boys TV pilot, with Deadline reporting that Rio Mangini (Teen Wolf) and Del Zamora (Sneaky Pete) have been cast as Sam Emerson and Grandpa, characters portrayed by Corey Haim and Barnard Hughes in the original 1987 movie.
The pilot is being directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) and will follow the plot of the Joel Schumacher film, with brothers Michael and Sam Emerson and their mother Lucy moving to live with their Grandpa in Santa Carla following the death of their father, only to discover the seaside town is full of goddamn, shit-sucking vampires.
The character description for Mangini’s Sam reads: “Michael’s younger brother, whose high level of literacy is matched by an equally high level of snark. He seems to be the only one not enchanted by Santa Carla — a sentiment he shares with a pair of local girls, the Frog Sisters.”
Meanwhile, Grandpa – a.k.a. Frank Garcia, is “a cantankerous old hippie who owns a beloved local bed and breakfast. In spite of his laid-back appearance, he’s a strict disciplinarian who probably knows more about the dark side of town than he cares to tell.”
Also featuring in the cast of the pilot are Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) as Michael, Kiele Sanchez (Kingdom) as Lucy, Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) as David, Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) as Stella, Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone) as Mollie and Cheyenne Haynes (Camping) and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs) as Liza and Cassie Frog.
