Avengers: Endgame directors love the dedication to fan theories

April 3, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Joe and Anthony Russo have expressed how pleased they are that fans are so dedicated to fan theories, specifically regarding Avengers: Endgame and Thanos.

In the build-up to a film’s release, fan-theories really sustain audiences until they get to sit down in the cinema and actually see the movie itself. This is particularly true for massive events like Avengers: Endgame.

There are a plethora of fan theories currently circulating about what might happen in the film and how Thanos might finally be defeated by our heroes. While these will likely not be accurate, Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Endgame, appreciate fans’ dedication to their work. Speaking to Fandango, Anthony said:

“Yeah, no, look, we love the fact that fans are out there really thinking very deeply about these characters, very deeply about these stories, thinking about all the places they could go, even of certain places. My brother and I have a real certain youth ourselves, so we get a big kick out of it. Look, we were fans long before we were filmmakers in the MCU, so we understand that point of view of participating in the narrative as a viewer and loving these characters and thinking about all the possibilities about where these characters can go, and really understanding their experiences and their journey. So yeah, the fact that the fans are enthusiastic about participating at that level is amazing. That’s the best place to be.”

All the fan theories will soon come to an end, of course, when Avengers: Endgame drops later this month. There are just a few more weeks left until it arrives in cinemas around the world starting April 24th.
