Blade Runner 2049 star Ana de Armas has been offered the role of screen icon Marilyn Monroe in Blonde, an adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ novel, which is set to be directed by Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford).
According to Collider, de Armas is yet to sign on for the role, but is Dominik’s choice to star in the long-gestating project, which is being produced by the director’s Assassination of Jesse James and Killing Them Softly star Brad Pitt.
The film, which is set up at Netflix, will follow “the talented Norma Jeane Mortenson as she blossoms into movie star Marilyn Monroe. But after a series of failed relationships and heartbreaking tragedy, she spirals into drug addiction and mental instability.”

De Armas’ previous credits include Knock Knock, Hands of Stone and War Dogs, and she has several projects incoming including Danny Boyle’s Yesterday, Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, and Olivier Assayas’ Wasp Network.
