Marvel’s Avengers gets a first trailer at E3 2019

June 11, 2019 by Andy Naylor

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics unveiled the debut trailer for their upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game last night at E3 and revealed that you can play this “cinematic story, complete with the high-octane action that Crystal Dynamics is known for” as a single player or up to 4 player co-op.

The trailer starts with the Avengers being blamed for a tragedy, resulting in a high death toll and in the death of Captain America and disbanding. The story then picks up five years later, with heroes outlawed, but with the world in peril they are forced to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The trailer was lacking in actual gameplay footage, so its hard to see what the finished product will look like. But Crystal Dynamics are known for the successful rebooted Tomb Raider franchise, if that level of storytelling and immersive detail is brought to the Marvel Universe then we will be in for a treat, even if it takes some time to get used to a cast that isn’t the big screen actors we’ve come to know and love over the last decade. Personally, I hope it shares a universe with Marvel’s Spider-Man, but if it is anywhere near as good as Marvel’s Spider-Man it will be something to look forward to.

Marvel’s Avengers is out May 15th 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC.
