Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers: Endgame, explain why Iron Man got an on-screen funeral but Black Widow didn’t.
There were plenty of casualties in Avengers: Endgame but two of the biggest were certainly Iron Man and Black Widow. However, why did only Iron Man get an on-screen funeral?
Well, according to co-director Joe Russo in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the reason is very simple: ”
“Well, Natasha has another movie coming out. Tony does not have another movie coming out.
“When you’re dealing with storytelling real estate in a three-hour movie, there’s only so much of it, and someone else has another film coming, there’s always the opportunity to bring closure in that other movie. In this movie, we had to bring closure to Tony Stark.”
