Ahead of the Disney+ Showcase at the D23 Expo today, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Marvel Studios is developing a live-action Ms. Marvel series for the upcoming streaming service.
The show is being developed by Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and a Funeral), who will act as writer and showrunner, and will follow the Kamala Khan version of the character – Marvel’s first Muslim superhero who was introduced into the comic books back in 2013.
The show becomes the latest Marvel Studios project for Disney+, and will join the previously announced The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki and Hawkeye, as well as the animated What If…? series.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige had previously admitted that there were plans for Ms. Marvel in the MCU, while Brie Larson also said she’d like to see the character appearing alongside Carol Danvers (the former Ms. Marvel) in a Captain Marvel sequel.
At this point, further details are scarce, but it’s thought that more news may be revealed during the D23 Showcase today. In the meantime, let us know in the comments or on our social channels whether you’re excited to see Kamala Khan making her debut in the MCU…
