Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton are set to reunite on screen for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgment Day this November with the release of Terminator: Dark Fate, a direct sequel to the 1991 action classic from director Tim Miller (Deadpool) and produced by the series’ creator James Cameron.
While Dark Fate marks Hamilton’s first outing as Sarah Connor since T2, Arnie has been an ever present in the series (assuming you include his brief CG cameo in Terminator Salvation). However, according to Miller, this sixth instalment will see a fresh approach to the T-800, offering up something different than what we’ve seen in previous films:
“He looks different, and he is different,” Miller told Total Film. “It’s an interesting way to portray him. He’s just so iconic, but it’s something we haven’t seen in any of the other films. I personally think that he looks the best since Terminator 2.”

Miller also explained why the decision was made to ignore the latter sequels, with Dark Fate set to serve as a direct sequel to T2: “The last movie [Terminator Genisys] was not good. Wait, I shouldn’t say that. There have been some… misfires. You don’t want it to go out that way as a fan. I wanted the franchise to have some kind of noble future again. I wanted to help with that because I love The Terminator so, so much.”
