Just days after Dan Aykroyd announced that he’ll be reprising the role of Ray Stantz in Ghostbusters 2020, it seems we now have confirmation on the return of another original Ghostbuster in Winston Zeddemore, with Ernie Hudson having confirmed his involvement with the Jason Reitman-directed movie.
Hudson made the announcement during a Cameo video, where he was offering a special happy birthday message to a fan – during which he revealed that he’s currently shooting scenes on the new film.
With this announcement, we now know that Aykroyd, Huson, Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett) and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz) will all be returning to their roles from the first two Ghostbusters, while Aykroyd last week that he’s “hoping” Bill Murray will be part of the reunion too (one would suspect that, if the original team are shooting their scenes now, Murray will presumably have already made his mind up either way by this point).
As yet, there’s been no word as to whether Ghostbusters 2020 will be able to tempt Rick Moranis out of retirement, but it may be a long shot, particularly as he was the only original cast member to turn down a cameo in the Paul Feig-directed reboot.
Along with the returning cast members, the new Ghostbusters is set to star Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel) and Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame). It is set for release on July 10th 2020.
