During a panel at the Tribeca TV Festival this past weekend to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, Friends co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane have ruled out any possibility of a revival or reboot of the beloved U.S. sitcom.
“We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” said Kaufmann. “The show was about that time in life when friends are your family. [A reboot] is not going to beat what we did.”
“We did the show we wanted to do,” added Crane. “We got it right, and we put a bow on it.”
Friends has been back in the headlines recently, and not just because of its anniversary, as the series has come under fire from some quarters where it has been criticised for sexism, homophobia, transphobia and fatphobia.
